The Bassingham Belles were the lucky recipients of a masterclass from England star Sasha Corbin this week. The Hertfordshire Mavericks' captain made the trip to the county ahead of linking up with coach Tracey Neville and the rest of the England squad at their pre-World Cup training camp.
Corbin's visit to Lincolnshire was part of FordUK's Netball on the Road campaign, and Belles player Natasha Woods won the masterclass through a Twitter competition. "I had to explain why Sasha should visit the Belles and what the club meant to me - I couldn't believe it when she told me she was coming," said the competition winner. The England international spent more than two hours running the masterclass with Bassingham at The Priory Witham Academy in Lincoln, working on ball skills and movement, then coaching some game play, before sitting down for a question and answer session with the players. Everyone left tired, but inspired by the experience. "She is such a great ambassador and role model. The Belles had a great time and couldn't thank her enough for the effort she put into the session and the enthusiasm with which she delivered it," said first team captain Jo Mackie. Corbin was equally impressed: "I had a fantastic time and it was the Belles who made it so special. It was a great session with lots of energy and laughter."

ENjoy ENtrust ENsure We are pleased to introduce our new Safeguarding Young People in Netball Policy and associated guidance, as part of our ENjoy ENsure ENtrust theme. The Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) and the NSPCC have endorsed this work as good practice.
We have used our case management information to identify the key issues in our sport and reframed our guidance to take account of this. As well as child protection and potential abuse related resources, we have widened our definition of safeguarding to include wellbeing; the overall health and happiness of the young people in netball. Women are less likely than men to become active because of body image and competency fears, according to Sport England research.
Sport England has started a campaign called This Girl Can to help encourage more women to take up exercise.
It uses slogans such as "Sweating like a pig, feeling like a fox" and images of normal women enjoying sport. "We want to tell the real story of women who exercise," said Sport England chief executive Jennie Price. "They come in all shapes and sizes and all levels of ability." Click Here to read more!
