Regional Leagues are part of England Netball's national competition structure and lie just below the national Premier League. The East Midlands Regional League has two divisions of eight teams and is the highest level of club netball in this region. Matches are played at Loughborough University at either the Netball Centre or the Sir David Wallace Sports Hall, both of which have a viewing balcony for spectators.
The champions of Division 1 get the opportunity to play off against the other 8 regional champions plus the bottom three teams from Premier League Division 3, to decide who will take the final places in Premier League Division 3 the following season.
The champions of Division 2 are automatically promoted to Division 1 whilst the team at the bottom of Division 1 is automatically relegated. Further play offs between Division 1 and 2 determine which teams will play in Division 1 and which teams will play in Division 2. The teams finishing bottom in Division 2 meet the top two teams from each of our five counties in a competition during the summer to decide which two teams will enter the East Midlands Regional League next season.
