No prizes but let’s see if you can guess who’s who from the East Midlands in this photo.
Just like at the Oscars, we all sat with crossed fingers and toes and held our breaths when the awards were announced and we’re pleased to tell you that the East Midlands were worthy winners of the following awards:
Inclusive Netball Volunteer Award
Julie Hunt (Leicestershire)
England Netball Long Service Award
Sue Collin (Nottinghamshire); and Andrea Scigliano (Leicestershire)
Pass on Your Passion Award (400 hours)
Sara Bostock (Leicestershire) and Oliver Hooper (Derbyshire)
We’d like to pass on massive congratulations to every one of our national award winners and also to those nominated volunteers from the East Midlands region who didn’t pick up an award on the night but who are, to us, all winners in their own right. We really couldn’t do what we do so well without you.
We’ll get some more pictures of the night onto the site shortly but here are some of our East Midlands nominees and award winners.
Just a reminder that we’ll be starting the Goalden Globe Award process for 2012 in the New Year and your challenge is to submit more nominations than ever before. Suggest you all get cracking on those netball CVs pretty soon!

On Saturday 17th September, the Athena in Leicester was once again the venue for one of the most prestigious nights on the netball calendar as it welcomed the national netballing community to the 2011 Goalden Globe Awards event. The theme for the evening was “masquerade” and there were plenty of exotic masks, flowing dresses and black ties on show – we netballers do scrub up well!
