Loughborough Lightning Netball is pleased to welcome Alex Styan to our coaching team as she takes up the role of Lightning Netball Coach and Senior Community Officer.
Styan will spearhead the revamped Lightning Community Programme, which will focus on offering more quality sessions for developing netballers across the East Midlands region, as well as providing the opportunity for more engaging coach education for aspiring coaches and teachers. Alex will also lead the expansion of the Lightning Academy Programme, with the focus being on education for coaches who are on our pathway and development for the Lightning athletes in our pathway. Through the role, Styan will continue to build positive working relationships with East Midland’s schools, to support the growth of performance netball within the region. Of her new role Styan said: “I am really looking forward to starting my new role and using my diverse netball experience to have a positive impact at Loughborough Lightning. I am excited about getting involved in the Lightning community with coaches and players. I have already been a part of the selectors team this season, identifying talented players who will have an impact both this season, and in the future.” Of the appointment Franchise Director Olivia Murphy added: “In addition to the boundless enthusiasm Alex brings to this role she has expertise and experience in developing and mentoring coaches and running community camps. Alex will be the perfect addition to our team and I can’t wait for her to start with us here at Loughborough Lightning.” Styan joins Lightning from her main role as Sheffield Hallam’s Netball Head Coach, and will be in post later this month.
