Lincoln made a convincing return to the East Midlands Regional League Division 2 with a win over TFC Too. The Imps have had numerous knee injuries and so had to adapt their squad over the season. Megan Samways returned to regional competition at Centre (C), whilst Anna Gilbert slotted in at Goal Attack (GA). The rest of the team remained unchanged.
Both teams were excellent in the first quarter, but Lincoln edged ahead through consistent shooting from Becky Baker and precise feeds from Abby Johnson. Megan and Lizzie Saywell made numerous interceptions allowing Lincoln’s attack to convert time after time. The score after the first quarter was 18-10 to Lincoln.

After a strong start, the Imps’ line-up remained the same in the second quarter. They continued to intercept, snatch rebounds and overturn possession with ease. Lincoln converted the same number of goals and only let in 7 meaning the half time score was 36-17 in their favour.
In the third quarter Lincoln started slowly. TFC Too converted 3 goals in a row, but Lincoln pulled it back, and in the end only conceded 5 goals during the whole of the quarter. Abby continued to feed excellent balls into the circle and Beth Richardson came on at C. Lincoln excelled at defending throughout the court, regaining possession from 3 second penalties on numerous occasions. With one quarter to go, the Imps extended their lead: 50-22.
Vic Adams made her debut at C in the final quarter. Her speed and quick release allowed Lincoln to frequently convert. Anna made numerous tips and interceptions at GA and the defensive duo of Lucy and Lizzie continued to overturn possession. The team collectively defended well, conceding just three goals in the last quarter. The final score ended 66-25 to Lincoln.

Abby Johnson was voted by Lincoln as their best player. Her passes into Becky were exceptional and she worked hard to get free for centre passes.
