Starting 7 GK – Tara St Clair GD – Francesca Desmond (Captain) WD – Emily Watson C – Hannah Joseph (Co-Captain) WA – Tyler Bexton GA – Christie Simpson GS – Helen Hancock Coaches Assistant Coach/Team Manager – Donna Swann | Quarter 1 With an early start at their new home venue and a depleted squad due to injuries, Falcons Black began well against Worcester Reds, going goal for goal. There were good feeds into the shooting circle and some really nice patches of play through the court. The Leicestershire team were looking stronger than in previous weeks but Worcester still managed to capitalise on a few errors to lead 6-16 at the end of the first fifteen minutes. |
Quarter 2
Falcons Black made a few changes for quarter two. Helen Hancock moved to GD, Fran moved to C and Hannah moved to WA. Fran and Hannah supported the younger players well and the whole Falcons team worked extremely hard. There were some great patches of attacking play and in defence Helen (GD) produced lots of tips and drove the ball down court well. However the home team missed a few key shots and lost the quarter 8 goals to 14.
Quarter 3
Falcons made no changes going into the third quarter and continued to create turnovers although the team couldn’t always take advantage of such opportunities. This was by far the best quarter for Falcons – they looked structured and kept it simple when working the ball through court. For the last few minutes of the quarter Worcester picked up the pace though and went onto to win the quarter 9 goals to 16.
Quarter 4
Falcons Black again made no changes for the final fifteen minutes. The team tried really tried hard to get back into the game but despite their efforts Worcester continued to build on their lead and ended up winning by 34 goals.
Final Score: Falcons Black 31 – 65 Worcester Reds.
Congratulations to Christie Simpson who was awarded Player of the match.
