Starting 7
| Falcons Black took on Loughborough rivals TFC during this weekend’s England Netball Prem 3 game. Falcons started the game well but TFC capitalised on a few misplaced passes to take a good early lead. Despite this, Falcons’ Hannah Joseph continued to get free and combined with Liv Mason and Harriet Gill well in the shooting circle. The quarter finished 7-10 to TFC. Harriet moved to GA and Olivia to GS during the break. The second quarter began with Falcons’ defence applying heavy pressure to TFC’s attack which led to a number of tips and interceptions for Falcons. The team also showed great patience in the through court play which helped Falcons win the quarter 14-8 (overall score Falcons 21-18 TFC). |
Coach Donna Swann made one change after half-time with Eleanor Durcan coming on at WA and Hannah dropping to bench. This switch helped Falcons to a good quarter – the fresh legs in centre court allowed Falcons to bring the ball down court more flowingly, whilst Falcons’ shooters also created more space in the circle. Better still, the pair produced 100% accuracy throughout the period, helping Falcons to an overall lead of 37 to 24.
The last quarter saw both teams go goal for goal. However, Falcons’ Harriet scored a fantastic long range shot, which allowed her team to win the quarter by a single goal and take the match 46-32. A well-deserved win for Falcons!
