Falcons travel but come away empty handed!

12/12/2014

Starting 7
GK – Carla Baker
GD – Isobel Beighton
WD – Kathryn Binks
C – Caroline Tarmowski
WA – Katie Flaherty
GA – Olivia Mason (Captain)
GS – Harrie Gill
Sub – Leah Webster

Coach – Donna Swann
Manager – Zoe Caulder
Primary Carer – Donna Swann and Zoe Caulder.

Both teams made an impressive start to the game, holding their own respective centre passes. However, Dudley soon began to find their rhythm and edged ahead before Falcons struck back. Falcons’ Harrie Gill and Helen Hancock were also shooting particularly well during the opening quarter, which helped the Loughborough-based team take the first quarter 8-12.

With no changes made at the break Falcons tried to approach the second quarter in a patient manner. However, it was Dudley who stepped up and varied the play – something Falcons did not react quickly enough to. In fact the home team dominated the quarter to overturn the score line and take an overall 27-20 lead.
Both teams brought on fresh legs for the third quarter, which began as a scrappy affair. Falcons struggled in the shooting circle to open up the space and also made some unforced errors, which Dudley capitalised on. This left an overall score of 40-29 going into the last fifteen minutes.

No changes were made for the final quarter, which Falcons struggled to settle into. However, it was a close quarter, which Falcons lost by just a single point, leaving a final score of 48-36.

Player of the match: Katie Flaherty.
