Second Quarter:
Both teams started strongly again. Constant pressure was being put on both teams’ defence and any error was being punished by either side. Falcons Black began to close down Dudley’s space and then capitalise on some of the turnovers that they had created. Patience on the ball by the team in general and excellent shooting from (GA) Olivia allowed Falcons to move ahead by 4 points. Second quarter ended Falcons 21 - 19 Dudley.
Third Quarter:
After changes were made by both teams to allow for fresh legs, the start of the third quarter saw Falcon’s defence manage to stick well to their game plan despite some heavy pressure from a coordinated Dudley attacking unit, which severely limited Falcons’ options for their ball carrier. Dudley’s resistance continued throughout and they managed to move ahead - 25 – 33 with 15 minutes to play.
Fourth Quarter:
After a rousing speech from the coaches both teams were ready and re-focused. Falcons began the final quarter strongly by creating the first two goals and closing the gap. Some patient play and skilful attacking put Falcons within 2 points of Dudley. With five minutes of game time remaining Falcons knew they had to turn over the ball but an unforced error gave Dudley the chance to extend their lead, which they did. In the end Dudley triumphed by a 6 goal margin.
End Result Falcons 35 - 41 Dudley.
