Falcons Black hosted north-east side Grangetown in this week’s England Netball Premier League Division 2 game. It was expected to be a physical battle and Grangetown had got a few decent results under their belt so the home team knew they'd have to give everything to get their first win of the season.
A slightly depleted squad saw some of Falcons Black’s youngsters make the starting line-up and they showed some glimpses of their potential throughout the game. Their efforts were complemented by some outstanding defensive work from Issy Beighton and Nic Caunt, who applied pressure on the away team from the first whistle right up until the last.

Some fantastic netball was seen during the first two quarters of the match and Falcons Black went into half time trailing by just five goals. The Loughborough team made some substitutions at the break and came out in the third quarter ready to take control of the game. Unfortunately some unforced errors in the attacking end of the court helped Grangetown to capitalise once more and the away team extended their lead during the next two quarters, eventually winning by 11 goals.
Final Score: Falcons Black 29 – 40 Grangetown
Falcons look forward to a trip to Telstars next week in hope of getting some much needed points on the board.
Congratulations to Olivia Mason who one again received the ‘Player of the Match’ accolade!
