East Midlands Volunteers take their chance to shine and go for gold.

What a fantastic few months it has been for East Midlands Netball! Our region’s volunteers continue to achieve so much it’s hard to do justice here to their amazing successes at all levels of the game.

Hot on the heels of our Regional Celebration Event on 16 June, many of our volunteers have had their contribution to volunteering recognised nationally by being asked to carry the Olympic torch throughout the region. Oliver Hooper, Sophie Bingham, Natalie Simpson, Vicki Weatherby, Sue Duffin, Sue Jones, Hollie Coupland and Anya Snow, to name just a few. As each torch-bearer set off for their run they were told “This is your time to shine” and we really can’t agree more.

Kate Wilcox then went on to be successful at screening for the IFNA International Umpire Award and has now been allocated to the Fast 5 Tournament in New Zealand in November; and Olivia Murphy, former England Netball Captain, was awarded Honorary Life Membership of England Netball for her services to the game.
Finally, we also had amazing successes at the England Netball Goalden Globes Awards on 22 September.
Our national award winners were:
Sue Connor (Nottinghamshire) – England Netball Long Service Award
Paula Hill  (Lincolnshire) – Mary Bulloch Administrator Award
Brigg and District Netball Club (Lincolnshire) – Outstanding Club Award

Pass on Your Passion 400 Hours Awards:
Amy Beckett (Derbyshire)
Sam Hickman (Northamptonshire)
Cherese Naylor  (Derbyshire)

Congratulations go to all of the EM Goalden Globes nominees and to our national winners.

Wedding Day Congratulations
Special congratulations go to the East Midlands Netball Regional Co-ordinator, Katie Broderick and her partner Ross Griffin who were married on Saturday 22 September in Wigston Magna, Leicestershire.  We wish them good luck and all the very best for their future life together.
