Lincoln City 51- Grasshoppers 34
This week Grasshoppers faced Lincoln City in the East Midlands Netball Regional League Division 2.
Both teams made a good start in the first quarter, with some great interceptions by the Grasshoppers defence and some great conversions in the shooting circle. This led to the first quarter ending 11-9 to Lincoln.
In the second quarter Grasshoppers lost some of the fluidity of play they had shown in the first quarter and this allowed Lincoln to take a convincing lead, leaving the score at half time as 26-14 to Lincoln.
In the third quarter Grasshoppers came back fighting. Sarah Melling came on as WD and Laura Harbour moved to C. Grasshoppers showed some great defensive work by Tracey Glover and Megan Palmer combined with some great feeds into the shooting circle by Sofi Wegener. However Lincoln held their nerve and displayed some great work in the attacking half allowing them to maintain their lead.
In the final quarter, Grasshoppers continued on display the form they had shown in both the first and third quarters; however this was not enough to counteract the lead Lincoln had managed to take in the second quarter.
Overall, Grasshoppers showed moments of great form, however, they let it slip in the second quarter and were not able to gain this back. It was a solid performance by Lincoln.
Final score: Lincoln City 51-34 Grasshoppers.
Grasshoppers are currently fourth in the league having lost to only the top two teams and so are looking forward to some more successful performances.
‘Players of the Match’ for Grasshoppers went to Laura Harbour (voted for by Lincoln City) and Megan Palmer (voted for by Grasshoppers’ Coach, Anne Melling)
