Lincoln City won their fifth consecutive match against Northants JMs on Sunday 10th November in the East Midlands Netball’s Regional League Division 2. The Imps began with the same starting seven that previously beat Grasshoppers.
Coach Karen Baker introduced a new style of defending which increased the number of interceptions made by the majority of Imps’ players throughout the court. The attack was also able to turn over possession and made it look effortless with excellent feeds from Abby Johnson and Beth Richardson to Becky Baker and Amy Womersley who extended the lead. Lincoln stormed ahead to take a 22-7 lead after the first quarter.

Defenders Lizzie Saywell, Jade Houlton and Vic Adams were able to bring the ball down court effectively, with Vic feeding the ball into Becky from the centre third. The shooters continued to excel as Lincoln were 44-17 up at half time.
The first half was impressive by Lincoln, however in the third quarter Northants JMs certainly upped their game. Their shooting was excellent from any distance, preventing Lincoln’s defence from making many turnovers. The score after the third quarter was 59-33.
Megan Samways and Sophie Reid came on in the final quarter. Their fresh legs provided Lincoln with new options in attack continuing the excellent feeds into shooters. The Imps were also exceptional at marking Northants’ centre passes during the fourth quarter, forcing errors and turning over possession, especially Lizzie Saywell who moved to WD. The team effort allowed the Imps to end the match 30 goals ahead: 76-46.
Shooter Becky was once again named best player by the opposition, proving herself a force to be reckoned with. Her shooting was excellent and she oozed confidence as she converted time and time again.
