It was not a great start for the Brigg side this week who struggled to settle into the game. Southgate played impressive netball, and demonstrated athleticism and team-play but they were also given opportunities to score when Brigg made a number of unforced errors. This meant that the score was Brigg 5 - 22 Southgate at quarter time.
This quarter saw a change between Borland and Chapman, who had now evidently settled into the game. This led to a much closer quarter score-line of 9 - 17 to Southgate and a half time score of 14 - 39 overall.
Further changes to the Brigg side saw Jen Millns take the GK bib, Rosie Tait move out to WD and Rachel Borland move to C. Millns made an immediate impact in the circle after returning from injury and the extra height proved beneficial as Brigg saw move ball turned over from rebounds and interceptions. The third quarter score was 9 - 15 to Southgate, with the overall score 23 - 54 going into the last 15 minutes.
More changes to the Brigg side saw Borland move to WA in place of Franks, with Chapman moving back to C. Brigg continued to fight for a point and battle until the end, managing to achieve their best result of the game in terms of quarter time scores: 11 - 14 to Southgate.
The final score at the end of the game was 34 - 68 in Southgate’s favour, seeing Brigg take a point for the result.
Player of the match for Brigg went to youngster Rosie Tait!
