January has seen 47 ladies join England Netball’s ‘Bring in the New’ campaign at the new Back to Netball session at the Elizabethan Academy in Retford. We are delighted to announce that Mapperley Netball Club have set up a junior section to their club. With no club in the area for the daughter’s of the ladies section, an opportunity arose to start one at Carlton le Willow. Having contacted another local club which couldn’t accommodate the numbers, they were advised to contact Ruth Pickthorn (EM NDCC). Meetings were quickly set up with Julian Taylor EM NDO for Notts/Derby to start the process of establishing a club. Sarah Molyneux a local Level 2 UKCC Coach was invited to take on this challenge, which she happily accepted. Funding was then sourced through England Netball’s Junior Club Starter Fund, which would cover initial costs of hall hire and basic equipment to get the club started. With the assistance of several volunteers, the club started on 9th January with fantastic turnout of 26 girls turning up. The club has already recruited even more volunteers to assist with registration and taking money, both mum’s and daughter’s are very happy. Should you be interested in joining the club, please contact Sarah via email sarahhumphrey@btinternet.com If you are interested in setting up a club in your area, please contact your local Netball Development Officer http://www.eastmidlandsnetball.co.uk/regional-contacts.html |
