Regional Talent
To be the “Number 1 Ranked Team in the World” is a clear driving objective for England Netball over the next 10 years. That ambition relies upon excellent and dynamic structures and processes for the identification and development of talented players from the very earliest stages through to the elite programmes for the England Team itself.
Excel Pathway programmes are athlete centred and are not about competition. The pathway is based on principles of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD)
The Regional Excel Pathway includes 3 progressive programmes:
These programmes provide performance enhancing training for individuals. The Pathway is based on Long Term Athlete Development focussing on the right development programmes and the correct level of training to challenge athletes. Coaching of the right quality is delivered in accordance with the Excel guidelines
The Regional Excel Pathway is the foundation to the National Excel and Excel Plus Pathway
The role of the Regional Talent Coach (RTC) is to support these pathways by identifying, developing and mentoring the coaches that deliver the programmes and who are at the core of the development of the athletes. Alongside this, the RTC’s remit is to identify and develop talented athletes.
