Nets
Derby - Willows Sports Centre

Willows Sports Centre is based in Derby City Centre and has offered local players an excellent opportunity to play all forms of netball for over 20 years! In excess of 100 teams play weekly at the Centre, recently refurbished and boasting superbly carpeted indoor courts, modern changing facilities and hot and cold refreshments to it’s customers.

Players can choose from traditional 7-a-side netball, played on a larger court with excellent spectator areas, or England Netball’s newly branded ‘Nets’ game, played at the Centre since the mid-nineties, but now updated and given the recognition it deserves! Women’s and Mixed teams play in weekly recreational leagues at both 5 and 6 aside versions of ’Nets' on courts surrounded by tensioned netting, with floating hoops and state-of-the-art scoreboards! Willows Sports Centre now boasts ‘My Action Replay’ cameras capturing the very best action from your games and distributing it through its social media, YouTube and website channels and also onto flat screens around the Centre!

We do everything for you; no bibs and ball to provide and we even organise the umpires too! We aim to make it as accessible and easy for you to play; our league software can help you organise your team, keep up-to-date with league fixtures and standings and even follow other results from your league as they happen via our Twitter handle. Use our new App for almost instant league info, action-replays and in-Centre offers and rewards! Simply provide the players and play the game!

Willows Sports Centre prides itself on offering easily accessible netball for all players, be it lapsed players returning to the game they once loved via ‘Back to Netball’, social and recreational leagues for any level of player at all formats, or a higher level netball for the more committed elite player, all year around. We even run leagues for youngsters with our fab U18 Nets leagues held every Friday tea-time.

Netball is played 52 weeks of the year at the Centre, so if you want season-to-season netball, you’ll be able to find it with us! Why not continue playing netball during your ‘off-season’ this summer? We have new 7-a-side and Nets leagues starting after Easter and into April/May that dovetail perfectly with the end of your regular season. Choose to play 7-a-side on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings, or why not give Nets a go? We have 5-a-side Nets leagues every weeknight and if you really fancy a change, why not get the boyfriends and husbands involved and enter our summer mixed 6-a-side Nets league? Surely this is your chance to make them put their mouths on the line and eat their words; prove to them how good a sport your games is!

If you would like to come and see what we can offer you; either as an individual, or for your existing or new team, please contact us today! To celebrate our link with England Netball, we are offering any new team a FREE trial game at the centre, simply by quoting ‘NETS16' when you enquire.

The Centre will be hosting an ‘Introduction to Nets’ Open Evening in early April which you’re welcome to come along to. Why not bring along your work-place or group of friends to trial Nets on the evening? We plan to host numerous games throughout the night for a wide variety of women’s and mixed teams, plus a very special representative game between a team selected from the Centre’s regular players and a very special team put together by England Netball!

NETS SUMMER LAUNCH NIGHT - THURSDAY 14TH APRIL - NETS has arrived in Derby! It's not too late to have a go at England Netball's NEW indoor game … You may have heard the buzz .... England Netball have thrown their ball into the court and backed our indoor game of netball! But they haven't just backed it, they've pimped it up, given it a new name and a funky branding! NETS is the new name and you have the chance to experience the new game at Willows Sports Centre this summer. Played as 5, 6 or 7 aside at venues across the country, NETS is based on the 5-a-side game played every week at the centre over the last twenty years. With new simplified positions of Defence, Attack and Link, the game is quick, slick and extremely exciting! In NETS you can even shoot for two points, providing a new dimension to the game we're sure you'll agree! We are holding Open Evenings and events throughout the summer where you can come and play a one-off game against like-minded opposition. Simply get in touch, register your interest and we'll do the rest! We'll provide the umpire, balls and bibs ... you provide the players!
